Review: When Angels Fall by Stephanie Jackson

When Angels Fall by Stephanie Jackson

When Angels Fall by Stephanie Jackson does not waste any time getting to the good stuff. But, if the good stuff to you means steamy sex scenes, you have to wait a bit for one of those. The good stuff I speak of (sorry, not sex. I know… the HORROR!), includes a good girl with a streak of bad luck, one handsome Archangel, complex characters, a not disappointing story line and new twists on old beliefs.

Author Description:

Danielle Coulter had never believed in anything except her mother, hard work and heartache. She never had time for religious fairy tales. But when her mother died, Dani was forced to believe…or die.

Not only was she forced to accept that God and Lucifer are real, but also that she is the last living descent of God on Earth. An undeniable fact when the Archangel Gabriel fell to Earth to protect her.
Archangel Gabriel; banished from Heaven over four million years ago for refusing to kill his brother, Lucifer, was about to get a second chance to re-enter Heaven. He was sent to Earth on a mission from his Father to protect the last Daughter of God; the last woman to carry the Blood of God on Earth, and kill his brother, once and for all.
Gabriel had never expected to feel anything for Dani, but he soon found himself willing to fight Heaven and Hell to keep her safe, even if it meant his own destruction.

The Reviewing Romance Breakdown
Story Linewww.dyerware.comwww.dyerware.comwww.dyerware.comwww.dyerware.comwww.dyerware.com
I really enjoyed the story line from start to finish. It wasn't too hard to follow, but there is a lot of information. I haven't read much of the Fallen Angel type of books, but I have my ideas of what that means. I really liked that it challenged that and made you wonder if things were as you think they may be. You can never know if history really is the story you are told.
Heroine Likabilitywww.dyerware.comwww.dyerware.comwww.dyerware.comwww.dyerware.comwww.dyerware.com
I liked Dani. I thought she had the most awful bad luck. Well, at least for the short amount of time that she is the world's only chance at existence! She is a strong gal, and I really did feel for her. I'm almost positive I would have been more hard headed at believing the Angel story. She is a smart ass, so we bonded over that if nothing else.
Hero Likabilitywww.dyerware.comwww.dyerware.comwww.dyerware.comwww.dyerware.comwww.dyerware.com
Archangel Gabriel. Where do I start? Is that Mr. Gabriel? Mr. Archangel? I feel like I should curtsy every time I just say his name. Ms. Jackson did a great job of expressing his power. He's pretty ballsy in his shows of affection for Dani. I loved his passion for her. He really risked (and gave) his all for her. Now if I can only get him served up to me on a silver platter with a side of edible undies.
The Normal in Paranormalwww.dyerware.comwww.dyerware.comwww.dyerware.comwww.dyerware.comwww.dyerware.com
Fallen Angels count as paranormal right? They are very human like, only better. With better comes the arrogance of knowing they are better. Even then, Gabriel and the other Angels felt pretty normal. I felt like it wasn't too far fetched to believe that they were Angels that had fallen to Earth. Parts of the story does stretch normal a bit, but isn't that the point? Next time I read of Pumapunku, I'll if Gabriel's story could be real.
Sex Sceneswww.dyerware.comwww.dyerware.comwww.dyerware.comwww.dyerware.comwww.dyerware.com
They are few and far between. I am not strictly an erotica reader, so I was OK with this, but for some reason I was expecting more. The two scenes that stick out to me were pretty hot. I just wish there was more time for the characters to connect and really pull the romance out. And, let us not forget. Gabriel is an Angel. So his actions are privy for all of Heaven to see...talk about giving a girl a complex!
Writing Stylewww.dyerware.comwww.dyerware.comwww.dyerware.comwww.dyerware.comwww.dyerware.com
I enjoyed the writing style. I really had to take a step back from this book before reviewing it to see how I really felt about it. I liked it. After a certain point, I couldn't put it down. There are so many sub-stories going on that it's easy to get caught up in the conflict between Dani and Gabriel, between Gabriel and Michael...so on and so forth. This is a good book. I think I just had a craving for sex. After talking it out with the Boss (Mara G ;) ) and getting my groove on (with the Hubs, NOT the Boss), we took care of that and I feel better at recommending this book to others.
Predictability www.dyerware.comwww.dyerware.comwww.dyerware.comwww.dyerware.comwww.dyerware.com
There was only one point in the book where I guessed what was happening next. At the very end. There was a lot that I didn't see coming. To me, that's a good thing.
The Happily Ever After-ness www.dyerware.comwww.dyerware.comwww.dyerware.comwww.dyerware.comwww.dyerware.com
This one was definitely an 'Awwww' HEA. I felt so warm and fuzzy at the end with it! I felt like the ending really tied things up for the characters. Maybe we get get Stephanie Jackson to give us an erotica version of Dani and Gabriel? Just enough to uh, wet our whistles!
